Collection: Mabe Pearls
Mabe pearls (pronounced *"mah-bay"*) are **blister pearls** cultivated by attaching a dome-shaped nucleus to the **inner shell wall** of mollusks, creating their signature **half-sphere** form.
- **Cultivation Process**: After 6–24 months of nacre deposition, the pearl is carefully **cut out** and **back-filled** with resin/mother-of-pearl for stability.
- **Mother Shells**: Primarily grown in:
- **White South Sea oysters** (*Pinctada maxima*)
- **Black-lipped oysters** (*P. margaritifera* – for Tahitian Mabe)
- **Winged oysters** (*Pteria penguin* – for rare "Rainbow Mabe")
